Chatty Bus visits The University of Essex - March 2023

On 9th March 2023, we took the Chatty Bus to The University of Essex to mark University Mental Health Day. The aim of this event was to bring university communities together to lay stronger foundations for the future of students' mental health. We found this to be particularly important as research has shown that over 50% of students feel lonely or isolated during their studies. As well as providing students with the opportunity to grab a seat and strike up a conversation, Chatty Bus also promoted the bus as a cheap and easy way to spend some time off campus in the lead up to our service enhancements on the 74, 76 and 76X the following month, which would enable students to head out to Colchester or Clacton from campus up to every 20 minutes.

For young adults who have only just left home, university life can be demanding and overwhelming,so we were delighted to be able to promote the freedom offered by the forthcoming service enhancements at this event. We even had the pleasure of welcoming Del Boy the Donkey onto the Chatty Bus, who was a huge hit with everyone he met! The event was covered by Essex Magazine - click here to read more.
